Below are photos of our private bush camp on the Pentecost River at El Questro Station. We spent 4 nights here and felt like we were the only people in the world. It was so quiet and peaceful. I had breakfast each morning down by the river watching the wallabies and birds, we fished, and put the yabbie net in, and at night after our campfire went crocodile spotting. Our torches lit up 3 sets of red eyes, and the kids named the croc's....Dr Rapper (the one near the rapids), The Banker (the one near the bank) and DJ swamp (the one who hung out in the mangroves). Every morning Scott would go down to the river (a different spot each day...those crocs are smart creatures) to fill up our solar shower bag. Each afternoon after a day out we had a beautiful hot shower overlooking the river. The kids were funny....insisting to shower with their cossies on!

El Questro has many natural attractions. One of those is Zebedee Springs. This natural hot spring is that runs along a fault line has warm crystal clear pools of various sizes and its surrounded by the most gorgeous lush tropical setting squeezed between towering red cliffs.

We all loved Zebedee and ended up spending another morning their with our friends Tex and Julie
Emma Gorge is part of El Questro but on the other side of the Gibb River Road. The walk in was fun as it involved some clambering over boulders. There is a beautiful Green pool half way along and we watched a brown snake slither across the track between Ben and the rest of us! Emma Gorge has that Wow factor. Its towering waterfall plunges into a massive pool, but don't be fooled its Freezing! Scott and I managed to make it out to the fall but the kids were too cold. Luckily there is a warm spring to the right of the fall to thaw out in.

We had a lovely lunch at the Emma Gorge resort after our walk.
The things you get excited about...my first cappuccino in quite a while.
The walk into the El Questro Gorge was one of my favourites. Its just so beautiful and rich in colours. The green palms and ferns contrast with the red walls, and the creek which you criss cross all the way is the clearest water you can imagine. Ben found a friend along the way and they could of spent the whole day in the creek chasing fish and frogs.
The first little pool you reach is gorgeous. To go on to the top pool its quite a climb. We all got up there but I expect most people don't go on further because of this, so if you can you would probably have the top pool to yourself. We decided to call it quits as we spent so much time getting to the first pool it was getting a bit late.
Next we are travelling onto Kununurra or "Civilization" as the kids call it.
such a beautiful place and definitely rich in colours...yes lisa, the cappuccino looks beautiful too, almost too beautiful to drink haha..bet you enjoyed every sip aye..xx kathleen
